Eurofoil opened its doors to RTL for the CO2 Challenge for Industry.
In 2021, the industry in Luxembourg could not achieve climate targets here. This is according to a recent publication by the Ministry of the Environment. The emissions are 30.8 percent above the target set by the government.
According to the Fedil, it would be more difficult for the operators to find out more. Other companies have been forced to pay the price. For example, Eurofoil, which has been producing aluminum since 1982. In recent years, the company has made great efforts to save energy and CO2. They are currently working on the construction of a large solar park on the roof of the factory.
According to the Director of Eurofoil, Mario Vagli, they have already managed to calculate the emissions figures. However, there is still a great deal of financial effort needed to ensure that this is successful in the future. Not all companies can afford to make major investments to modernize their production lines, says Fedil. However, these new technologies are not available, says René Winkin, Director of Fedil. This means that there is currently not enough green electricity or hydrogen available to cover the industry's needs.
The industry did not want to put the climate cells on hold, but for the time being there were concrete plans as to how the cells should be built.
